We used to have a Guestbook on the site. It was very active around 1999 – 2001, in the happy days of lengthy tours, new albums and regular appearances on screen. The Guestbook has since been discontinued although we decided to keep some of the entries, published below.

“Well done Sharon! what a great website. I have been a fan since ‘Take it or Leave it’ in fact since the first time I heard Jimmy sing Love Don’t Live Here.”

Another wonderful show in Ipswich. Enjoyed singing along to Crocodile Shoes with 1,999 others. One of the two of us is a Geordie so loved Big River. Can’t wait for the next tour.”

“Last saw Jimmy at Newcastle City Hall on his birthday 2 years ago….BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!! Going again tonight (DEC 20th) to the same venue with great expectations……Never ceases to produce excellent songs ….long may he continue.”

Mira
“Hi, I’m an Australia fan of Jimmy’s. Spender is showing here at the moment on cable -&- it’s just brilliant as was Crocodile Shoes. I also came across Still Crazy recently -&- thought it was really funny. We don’t hear much about Jimmy in Aus, so finding this web site was a revelation. Keep up the great work on the site. Cheers.”

Terri
“Saw Jimmy’s concert at Portsmouth – on Monday 13th December. Absolutely brilliant better than the week before at Worthing – if that’s possible. I had a seat in the front row of the circle – which is the best place to be at the Guildhall. Jimmy was definately on top form, he seemed to sing more songs than at Worthing and included ‘Blue Roses’ one of my favourites”

Heidi
“I’m from Denmark and I went to the gig in Birmingham and it was just brilliant. I check this site quite often, gives me a chance to find out what’s going on. Thanks for a good site, Sharon and Alan.”

Penny
“Hi Sharon. I Love your web site my husband Steve -&- I were looking for info on Jimmy Nail yesterday, but couldn’t find much elsewhere. We live in Australia and have just seen Crocodile Shoes II for the second time it is fantastic. Thanks again for all the info on Jimmy.”

Wendy
“HE’S AMAZING ISNT HE…HOW CAN A MAN STAND UP ON AN ‘EVENING OF SONGS AND STORIES’ AND MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A PERSONAL FRIEND SHARING A CHAT OVER A CUP OF TEA!!!!! THIS MAN IS AN ARTIST…BETTER LIVE THAN ON CD.. I’D LIKE TO SEE HIM DO AN EVENING WITH ON T.V. AND SHOW ALL THOSE CYNICS WHAT A TRUE PERFORMER HE IS.”

“W.A. Ward said: “the secret of life is to dare, the spice of life is to befriend, and the essence of life is to care” and we were extremely fortunate to experience all three just recently thanks to two extraordinary people. We travelled from Canada to see and hear Jimmy perform on November 7th at the Palladium and it was a fantastic experience. The all too short “moment in time” we shared with him will forever be etched in our memories. Thank you Jimmy as the evening was all we hoped it would be and more. Moreover, it was not only memorable because of the “stories and songs”, but also because we shared it with special people. “With a little help from my friends” is what the man sang…how did he know? A heartfelt thank you to our friends Sharon and Alan for such a fabulous time and helping make a dream a reality.”

“We saw Jimmy at De Montfort Hall last night and really enjoyed the show – rather different from the previous 3 concerts we’ve been to. We were a little disappointed not to have had a bop! However it was a bit like ‘An audience with Jimmy Nail’ and being on the very front row directly in front of the great man it certainly was an ‘intimate evening of stories -&- songs’. We saw Jimmy at the stage door afterwards and he signed autographs on the bus (as usual) Celtus the support band were also excellent. Great web site, well done!”

Beth
“I just saw the movie “Still Crazy” and loved it! I must say after reading all the letters on your website I feel a little behind the times but, better late than never. Here in Houston I found one copy of the movie soundtrack and got it home as fast as I could and can’t wait to hear more! What a “cutie”. Bill Nighy isn’t bad either. Nice work on the site. I’ll keep it bookmarked and check back for more update”

Joan
“Yum yum, nice site!! Looking forward to seeing the man at the Hall for Cornwall next month – seen him live four times already, but it’s never enough!! Great selection of pics! Thanks Sharon, more please!!”

Sharon
“Got the new album – it’s great. My favorites are “For Good” and “W.L.T.M”. He just keeps getting better.”

Roy
“Nice to see that there’s a decent page devoted to Jimmy. I discovered his music through “Croc.Shoes II”, and it moved me deeply. There’s something about his style that is so special, and the lyrics are great too. Love the “Big River”-album… Please come to Bergen, Norway.”

Val
“I have just listened to “Tadpoles in a Jar.” Absolutely superb!!! My fav is “Blue Beyond the Grey.” I just love the tone of his CD’s, they’re so dreamy and moody, just like he seems to be, and sooooo meaningful!!! Keep ’em coming Jimmy!!”

Lorri
“Hi from Ontario, Canada. Thanks to our hosts for welcoming us to such an outstanding site. It is positively invaluable to international fans. Well done! Jimmy Nail is undoubtedly a multi- faceted performer whose music is not only entertaining but also thought provoking. “Blue Beyond The Grey” and “Tadpoles In A Jar” are phenomenal! I sure hope we hear much more from this gifted musician.”

Robby
“I must have been under a rock for the last few years or his albums haven’t been released in my corner of the US, but the first I ever heard of J.N. is in the movie “Still Crazy”. If his other work is as good as the stuff in the movie, I’ll have to check it out”

Girvan
“Nice website, an underrated artist and songwriter in my opinion. I’m a Prefab Sprout fan, so naturally admire Jimmy’s work too.”

Steve
“I have just returned from the Harrogate gig for which I bought four tickets for my wife to take her friends, but she chose to take the family. We have very mixed musical tastes and have seen lots of musicians over the years from big names to small gigs in tiny venues. BUT – I have to say that it was a wonderful night – the gig was brilliant, he was very communicative and the enjoyment he got from it all came across so well. The bottom line is that I’ll happily part with money to see him again.  Even at my age I’m not too old to be converted!”

Lisa
“What can I say Newcastle 9th April 2001 at 8.34 a shiver went down my spine as Jim came on stage. The concert was brilliant as he is always at home in his home town. He came on stage and said “there is no place like home”. He did all the old favourites Crocodile Shoes, Blue Roses, but also some from his new album which is very good but not out yet but as I already have it I could join in and sing along to some of the numbers, also got him to sign both my Crocodile shoes books and my spender book also got a piccie of him coming out of the stage door with his lovely leather trousers on !!!”

Ronnie

Jeanette
“I am a very keen fan of Jimmy Nail and have been to see him four times. Your website is great and I have enjoyed looking at it. Keep up the good work and keep the info pouring in”.

Lorri and Tim
“It was a great pleasure to read your reviews. It was thoughtful of you to share your evening with those of us who, sadly, were unable to attend the memorable “Sunday Night for Sammy” show. Upon reading your words, fans will be left with the unmistakable impression that the performers and organizers who made that evening possible were there not only to celebrate Sammy Johnson’s life, but also to express their love for this man in the way they know best– entertaining. United to share their craft with an appreciative audience in honour of a friend is wonderful indeed!! We extend our very best wishes for the success of the Sammy Johnson Memorial Fund. Many thanks to you Sharon and Alan.”

“I first heard of Jimmy Nail back in 1996 when his song, Country Boy was released. My son was born earlier that year and when he could crawl he seemed to like that particular song. He’d only boogie when it was played. Nothing else seemed to tickle his fancy.”

Pat
“What a great site, Sharon! I moved to Canada 18 months ago -&- never felt homesick till I saw your site!! All those gigs -&- not a cat in hell’s chance of getting there. I play my JN CD’s at parties -&- people think the songs are great”

Pesky
“Can’t wait to see Jimmy in concert again even though i will have to fly back to UK from US to do so . I am sure it will be worth it . Thanks for the site info Sharon -&- Alan You do a great job for all the fans.”
